After downloading

Install in three steps

  1. Move it to Applications

    Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag IsolaDesk onto the Applications folder, then eject the disk image.

  2. Open it the first time

    Open IsolaDesk from your Applications folder. macOS asks you to allow it once: here’s how.

  3. Add your first workspace

    Create a workspace, then scan its QR code with your phone from WhatsApp › Settings › Linked devices.

First launch

Allow IsolaDesk once

IsolaDesk isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it macOS says it can’t verify the developer and doesn’t open it. That’s expected: allow it once and it opens normally from then on.

macOS 13 Ventura or later

  1. Open IsolaDesk from your Applications folder. When the warning appears, close it with Done or Cancel.
  2. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down to Security. Next to the message about IsolaDesk, click Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm with your password or Touch ID, then click Open Anyway again.

macOS 12 Monterey

  1. Open IsolaDesk from your Applications folder. When the warning appears, close it with Cancel or OK.
  2. Open System Preferences › Security & Privacy, then the General tab.
  3. Next to the message about IsolaDesk, click Open Anyway.
  4. Click Open to confirm.
Requirements

What you need

  • macOS 12 Monterey or laterCheck in Apple menu › About This Mac.
  • Apple Silicon or IntelA version for each: pick the one that matches your Mac.
  • An internet connectionFor WhatsApp Web, to activate a license, then at least every six weeks or so to keep it verified.
  • WhatsApp on a phoneOne account per number you add to IsolaDesk.

Updating

IsolaDesk tells you when a new version is available. Download it from this page and replace the app in your Applications folder: your workspaces and your license are kept.

What’s new

Uninstalling

Subscribed? First choose IsolaDesk › License… › Deactivate this Mac to free your license. Then quit IsolaDesk and drag it to the Trash.

To also delete your workspaces and their WhatsApp sessions, remove the folder ~/Library/Application Support/IsolaDesk.
